This breakdown gives you two blitzes out of the 34 Over Ed. These are universal set ups, so you can use them on any defensive play. This makes the 34 Over Ed very versatile.
Before we get into the breakdown I want to send a big thank you out to Sim Gunther. He posted this edge blitz on The Gamer’s Lab and asked me to cover it in a video. Without him prompting me to do so, I would have never found this unblockable heat.
Check out the video below to see a full breakdown and set up to both the edge blitz as well as the unblockable nano set up.

This write up covers run defenses as well as max coverage defense. Be sure to thank him for the breakdown!

The pistol and under center HB screen take very long to develop in Madden 15. This often leads to sacks or mistimed passes. The screen is such an important element to running a successful offense that we need to find a decent way to throw the screen while taking away the risk of being sacked.
We can do this by utilizing two different routes. We can change the HB to a vertical or an in/out depending on which side the screen is being set up.
Utilizing this concept will make for a more effective screen game while under center and in pistol.
The video below highlights these adjustments and also places emphasis on other important details to consider when running this play.

The face catch is basically a user catch in Madden 15. To execute the face catch, you must bullet pass the ball to a wide receiver who is running a vertical, or go pattern. When throwing the ball, be sure to pass lead the ball up. Doing this will throw the ball deeper down field and make the trajectory of the ball a bit higher.
This type of pass lead will force the defensive back to run to where the ball is going to land. This allows a good user to click on and under cut the ball. Once the receiver is in range to catch the ball, the player hits and holds the catch button (Y on Xbox One, Triangle on PS4).
This type of catch takes a little bit or practice, but compared to user catches in past Madden games, this catch is ridiculously simple to pull off. Below is a video showing how to execute this face catch animation in Madden 15.
Defending the face catch is a lot trickier than actually performing it. Many people are at a loss when it comes to defending the face catch, but they don’t have to be. It is much easier than you may think.
A great play to use when defending the face catch is cover 4. Once we break the huddle we will find the big, tall wide out and man our safety on that side to the wide receiver.
Cover 4 is a perfect play call because the corners are playing deep quarters. This is essential when defending the fact catch. Thirds (cover 3) get sucked inside when the outside WR is manned up. This poses a ton of other issues that we just don’t want to deal with.
If you are ever stuck in cover 3 and your opponent is running a no huddle offense, simply hot route the corner who is defending the face catching wide receiver to a deep quarter. To do this highlight that corner, click the A button and hit “Up” on the d pad.
The video below illustrated how to defend the face catch and goes over the necessary defensive adjustments. Be sure to watch until the end of the video, as it also gives tips for defending face throws from the slot receivers.

For those who don’t know, Xbox releases a few free games each month between their Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles. These games are downloadable for Xbox users who have an Xbox Live Gold membership. Hence the name, Games with Gold. This month’s Xbox One title is Rayman Legends.
Rayman is an old, classic platformer that recently got a nice reboot using next generation technology. The graphics and newly designed levels are beautiful as well as challenging.
I have had tons of fun playing this game and the platforming elements take me right back to playing games on my NES and SNES systems. Rayman Legends really captures the fun and goofy style of gameplay that consoles once highlighed with games like Mario Bros., Sonic the Hedgehog, and Megaman.
There aren’t many high quality, fun platformers that are released in the next generation of gaming consoles, but luckily we have Rayman Legends.
Here is the newest episode of First Take which highlights this awesome, and free game!
If you are up for the challenge, I highly suggest downloading Rayman Legends and giving the game a go. It is fun, addicting, and highly rewarding.

Labbing, or practicing, is extremely important in the game of Madden. Getting adventurous, finding small nuances in the game, and getting any kind of edge on your competition is crucial. The following video series goes over how to lab in Madden 15 and also breaks down the Split Close formation. This will give you a great Madden mini scheme to run while instilling principles and a thought process to help you move forward with other lab sessions that you complete on your own in the future.
Part 1
The split close formation can be found in the following playbooks: Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans.
The first video shows me going through the formation and picking out certain plays that I like. Once you have the batch of plays you want to run, it’s time to practice them!
It is important to check the play art both in the play call screen and on the field because some routes look exactly the same but really are not. This is integral to know and understand.
The first play we go over in this Madden 15 mini scheme is HB Wheel. This is a great play to hit all spots on the field. Check out the video below to gain insight on how to lab and how to run the split close mini scheme.
Part 2
Part two delves into the play FB Trail. We learn quite a few things from this play. We learn how to run the play successfully, stop the play, and then we cover how to counter defensive adjustments. Madden is all about adjusting, so this video is extremely important.
The second key component that we cover in this video is the screen. We take a look at screen spacing as well as other route options on the actual screen play. Having multiple options will make this play and formation much more deadly.
Part 3
Part three takes a look at the play Double Ins and WR Corner. As we take a look at WR Ins, we try quite a few different things with some of these unique routes. We make an assessment as to whether these patterns are effective or if they are a waste of time. We also discuss condensing the offense and throwing out plays that give the same desired result as other plays. Keeping your offense simple, yet effective in Madden is key.
WR Corner turns out to be quite unique and hits different spots of the field when compared to other passing plays in this split close formation. Check out the full breakdown below!
Part 4
In part four we take a look at the run game from the Split Close formation. You absolutely need to have good run options in Madden 15, and luckily the run selection out of the Split Close are not too shabby.
The Power O is a decent option for getting to the B gap to outside. The FB Inside is basically an inside zone play with a lead blocker. It’s sexy to say the least. I love this play.
There you have it! This is how I lab in Madden and break down a formation. I hope this will help you understand what to look for and how to construct an offense. In Madden 15 the run game is better than ever before. When I say better, I mean it works as it should. It isn’t necessarily over powered, but by utilizing real offensive line concepts and blocking schemes, we are able to consistently take advantage of the defense. In the past, this wasn’t always the case. Quarters defense would wreck I form and 43 would get ran on. Not so anymore. I hope you are ready to run the ball like a pro!
The run game really comes down to simple concepts of numbers, angles, and leverage.
So what does this mean?
Numbers: Having equal to or more blockers than the defense had defenders on the play side
Angles: Being in good position to make sound blocks on defenders in relation to where the run is designed to go
Leverage: Understanding where our blocking strength will be
All of these factors are important when dialing up the perfect run call. Check out this video that further illustrates all of these points.
To highlight the key points…..
1. Counter Numbers
2. Diagnose the angles and leverages on the play
3. Audible to the correct run play
It is key to have contrasting runs in your audibles so the defense is always wrong.
Having an effective run game is so important if you want to play Madden 15 at a high level. An effective run game will help take pressure off of your offense. It also gets your opponent out of felonious defenses and makes them play honestly. Running the ball is also low risk. Every time you throw the ball it has a chance to be intercepted. Running the ball can cut down the risk of turn overs and overall negative plays.
Utilize these tips to increase the effectiveness of your offense and bring your game to the next level!

In this episode of First Take, we dive into the world of Sunset Overdrive. Quickly you can see that this game is full of customization and action awesomeness. Sunset Overdrive is fast paced and keeps you engaged throughout the entire experience.
When playing this game it feels like a mix between Ton Hawk and Grand Theft Auto. This might seem like a weird combination, but it blends perfectly. The voice acting and amusing stroy line add to the epicness of this game.
Check out the video below for my first impressions on this spectacular game!
I look forward to continuing the adventure that is Sunset Overdrive.
This video covers how to run the Buffalo Bills eBook in Madden 15. I have had some requests to play a full game and discuss what I am thinking and my play calling in a head to head match up. This is an online ranked match.
I struggle a bit on defense in the beginning, but I am able to sure things up and get that under control. It also doesn’t help when you get your opponent to throw 1-3 picks each drive that your defenders flat out drop….. but that’s another story for another day.
If you enjoyed this Madden 15 tips video and want to learn more about the Buffalo Bills offensive playbook, check out my complete breakdown. It covers two different types of personnel and gives you all the fire power you need to beat any defense.
